Can OrthoMTA be used as a sealer? <br>
No chemical seal - there will be no chemical seal between MTA and gutta percha. It is known to have no chemical setting reaction up to 2mm in in-vivo condition. Apical area wil be filled with periodontal fluid. Apical area is always open to excessive moisture and it is impossible to control. Weakening of tooth chemically – absorbs moisture from dentin during setting reaction which weakens the tooth. No physical seal – physical seal happens through jamming effect of the particles of MTA but due to excessive moisture in the apical area, setting reaction is disturbed therefore the MTA will be washed out. Weakening of tooth physically – setting expansion rate is 2% which can cause root fracture.
